Overlooking Snoqualmie Pass and Keechelus Lake, Roaring Ridge offers more than great views. North facing slopes hold cold snow on those sunny days, and the slopes can be mellow enough for beginners. An old clear-cut lets you work into wide open bowls while the tight trees offer shelter on stormy days.

An easy skin out on the Iron Horse Trail brings you to the base of Roaring Ridge. Finding the blue blazes that mark the turn from the Iron Horse Trail is the most difficult route finding on your way to Roaring Ridge. At 0.75 miles from the trailhead, turn right when you see the blue blazes that are usually accompanied with flagging. Pick your way through the dense forest until you reach NF-9070. Follow NF-9070 to the left (south); shortly after you cross the bridge the road will split, and you'll want to follow the summertime road to the left toward Roaring Ridge. After following the road south to the base of Roaring Ridge, begin picking your way up through the dense fir until you reach the clear cut. From here, follow the treeline to the top.

Two benches break up the popular ski routes on Roaring Ridge, and each is a great for stopping to spot your partner. Alternately, if the conditions are right, you can link the two bowls together for a long 1,500-foot decent.
