Cat Lake Campground, located 20 minutes north of downtown Squamish, is a quieter alternative to the busy Alice Lake Campground just down the road. There are 50 walk-in sites surrounding the lake, a loop trail links the sections of the campground, several beach access points, and a day use picnic area with a small dock. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table, and there are pit toilets and bear-proof food caches spread out around the campground. The sites that are closest to the parking area are generally the most popular because they have good beach access, the shortest walk to the parking area, and the best afternoon sunshine. However, the sites on the far side of the lake generally offer more solitude and space to spread out.

Cat Lake is the perfect place to be on a hot summer day; the water is fantastic for swimming, the fish are plentiful, and the secluded setting is idyllic. The area has a handful of mountain bike trails and is also popular with the dirt bike and trials bike crowd. There are hiking trails in the immediate vicinity as well, such as the trail networks at Brohm Lake and the Four Lakes Trail system in Alice Lake Provincial Park.

Unfortunately the future of Cat Lake Campground is uncertain; the area is currently facing the proposed development of a new four-season resort called Garibaldi At Squamish which, if it goes forward, will result in drastic changes to the area. Development may include converting the land surrounding Cat Lake and Brohm Lake into two golf courses as well as the installation of 23 ski lifts and 100 kilometers of new roads on Brohm Ridge. You can learn more about this proposed development and efforts to stop the plan here.
