At 10,785 feet, Mount Rose is the third-highest peak in the Lake Tahoe area, just below Freel Peak and Jobs Sister. Home to a wintertime ski resort of the same name as well as numerous hiking trails during the summer, the mountain holds a wealth of year-round activities.

Mount Rose Campground is situated at 9,300 feet and just across from the mountain on Highway 431. The campground is contains 25 campsites including non-electric RV sites, large two- and three-family sites, and walk-in tent sites. All sites include picnic tables and grills. The tent sites are high up on the hill overlooking the mountain range and the Nevada desert.

Across the highway from the campground is the Mount Rose Trailhead and parking area. From here you can summit the mountain or take the Tamarack Peak Loop, which yields beautiful views of Lake Tahoe and beyond. There is also nearby fishing and swimming holes.

Because of the high altitude, Mount Rose Campground is only open for a few months every year. The best sites fill up quickly, so remember to reserve early to enjoy one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the Tahoe area.

Mount Rose Campground is generally open from June 10 through September 20.
