Keough's Hot Springs Ditch

Keough’s Hot Springs is a classic hot springs and camping resort. The pool has a long history of people using its geothermal hot springs for medicinal and healing purposes. The creek that runs from the springs toward Highway 395 has been dammed by locals, creating several natural tubs or pools for those that don’t want to spend the money at the resort or who just want to take a quick dip to relieve their aches and pains after backpacking in the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

These free pools have been cooling over the past couple of years, so get there while they’re still hot. They could warm up again, but no one is really sure how the warming and cooling pattern works. Public nudity is common here, so be prepared, don’t be offended, and try to make friends, as this is a very friendly place. The views of the Eastern Sierra Nevada are very impressive.
