The Candle Creek Campground is the last campground you come to on the Metolius River.  Of the campgrounds in the area, it is the most isolated and least congested.  The campsites are large, flat, and offer plenty of space.  Hoodoo Recreation Services maintains the area and completely renovated the sites in 2003.  Facilities are minimal but are nice and well-maintained.

This is a great spot for adventurers who are in the area for other activities and need a comfortable and soothing place to pitch a tent.  The nearby Metolius River provides soothing white noise for excellent sleeping.  The site is a great place to go for those who want to avoid RVs and large groups while enjoying area hikes, climbs and rivers.  There is an extra $6 charge for additional vehicles in a single site.

The site also has river access for kayakers, but the banks of the river here are heavily overgrown and can be difficult for novices.

After the campground closes for the season in mid-September, you can stay for free. We had the whole end to ourselves on a weekend. Loved hiking upriver on the trail, watching kayakers head down the Metolius, and gatherings of yellow-rumped warblers in the trees and shrub.

When all the other sites are full, check this one out. Bring your own water, but it's secluded and quiet (except for the rushing river).
