For those who wish to explore the Three Sisters Wilderness, this small campground located just 5 miles west of the little town of Sisters, Oregon, is a great starting point. A natural spring runs through the heart of the campground, meandering among towering ponderosa pine and birch trees. There are 23 small and shaded campsites scattered along a loop, and each is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This location is close to several trailheads along the Old McKenzie Highway, and it offers quick access to the North and Middle Sister mountains via the Pole Creek Trailhead. The campground location is also a good alternative to the Metolius-area campgrounds that get crowded in the summer months.

To the west of the of the campsites near the campground entrance, a short hiking trail leads along the stream toward the spring that trickles out of the side of an embankment. Note the trail near the spring can be muddy, and footing can be tricky and wet.

Update: I was able to make reservations on Reservation.gov. I am so excited that I got the last campsite available for this coming Sunday Monday and it's site 18! Every other campsite is booked over the 4th holiday in this campground. I will upload photos when we get back.
