Kayaking around Fox Island makes for a great day trip with wonderful views of Mount Rainier and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge along the way. Fox Island can be approached from several different launch sites including the Fox Island Boat Launch as well as Titlow Park. Paddlers deciding to launch from Titlow Park should be experienced with strong currents while crossing the Tacoma Narrows. Depending on the direction of the currents through Hale Passage, kayakers can decide to make a clockwise or counterclockwise trip around the island. Circumnavigating Fox Island offers a varied coastline with private property and large houses as well as large stretches of uninhabited beaches including Fox Island Fishing Pier, which offers a nice place to get out and stretch your legs.
