The Otter Crest Marine Gardens are located just north of Devil's Punchbowl between Depoe Bay and Newport, Oregon. From the overflow lot, the gardens can be reached by a short sandy decline that should take visitors no more than 5 to 10 minutes. The gardens offer a plethora of of wildlife ranging from micro-organisms to marine mammals such as seals and sea lions. Buying a field guide can be very useful, as many of the animals you will find here are not as recognizable as an urchin or starfish. Chitons, nudibranch, octopus, crabs, and other interesting creatures can be found on just about every low tide. Going with a naturalist who is familiar with the area can be a huge benefit, as they have an eye for things that many people will miss on their first few trips.
