Mona Campground is the largest campground on Blue River Reservoir, though the layout of the area coupled with the dense tree canopy keeps the campground from feeling overly crowded.  Mona is essentially a string of sites along a portion of the northwest shore of the reservoir, all of which are serviced by the same campground loop.  This means that there are plenty of great sites with direct access to the water.  A forest road heads south from Mona and provides further access.  Additionally, Mona Campground enjoys close access to the Lookout Boat Ramp, good fishing from a nearby bridge, potable water, and the standard arrangement of picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets.  Group sites are the near the end of the loop and are sites 21-23.  Reservations are recommended in the summer as the campground is one of the better official options on this popular reservoir.

What kind of trout are there? I LOVE to fish, but I need to know more about the kind of fish and what kind of lure to use.

Thank you, Brian! Fee information has been updated.

Site-fee is now $18 for single use sites. Quiet campground at night, but lots of activity and noise during the day from day-trippers at Lookout Boat Ramp which is directly across the water. Lots of trout in the waters behind campsites, and a few crawfish as well.

Notes for Campground: Campsites increase in elevation (and hence difficulty in actually getting to water) along with their numbers. We will try for site #5 if we go back, as it had tons of beachy access, though that may mean more contact with other campers.
