If there were a Mecca for sledding in the Mount Hood area, White River West Sno-Park would be it.  A popular winter recreation location for folks of all ages, the White River canyon is particularly popular and heavily used for one activity in particular… sledding.  Sledding enthusiasts from kids to adults will enjoy the variety of terrain that stretches over a half mile uphill from the parking lot.  The views aren’t too shabby either, offering some of the best and most easily accessible perspectives of the giant Wy’east (the Multnomah tribe's name for Mount Hood).

Just got back from an overnight camp at White River. Saturday was windy with sleet off and on with some much needed sun breaks. The sledder were out in force. Did some sledding myself to get the pumping. Was able to dig a trench for my hammock and slept well when you get down into a small bowl out of the wind. Trenched down about 45 inches and still didnt see dirt. Will be keeping an eye on a good weather window to do a day snowshoe further in.

We headed up to Mt Hood on Saturday for some sledding - but there were not many options due to low snowfall so far this season. White River was our best option. The snow was a bit icy but there was enough naturally occurring snow to have a bit of fun.
