When you are looking for the perfect swimming hole, there are a few conditions that most summer travelers look for. Ideally it's a place that gets a lot of sunshine, has deep waters, a sandy beach, and may be a good cliff jumping spot.  This bend in the Clackamas River, just 8 miles upstream from Estacada, has the first two but unfortunately not the second two.  With relatively big river rocks making up its pebbly beach, you'll want to bring chairs to sit in because laying out the old towel isn't going to be too comfortable.
