A great spot for a quick swim or retreat, Whiteoak Creek Falls feels more remote than it actually is. Although it is bound by roads on two sides, the roar of the falls drowns out any road noise, and the falls and pool below offer a relaxing respite from the bustle of the nearby outfitter operations on the Nantahala River.

From the parking area on Old River Road, it is a short walk up Whiteoak Creek on the river right shore. There is no designated trail, but enough foot traffic has found its way to the base of the falls that children and adults will have little trouble reaching it. A rope swing indicates a relatively deep pool, and the more adventurous swimmers will find themselves scrambling up the steep but manageable rock face adjacent to the falls. Potholes large and small dot the bedrock, and the Whiteoak Creek flow cascades down channels on the the river left side.
