I've been interested in mountaineering and the outdoors since I was a Scout and hiked and camped in New England. At 16 I went to the Tetons with friends and took a climbing course with Glenn Exum.
Since then I've climbed wherever I lived or travelled: in the Alps, the Sierra and especially Yosemit Valley, and now in the Pacific Northwest. In 1972 with a team of 7 including Gary Ullin we made a first ascent of the SE Ridge of Mt. St. Elias (18,008') and the second highest peak in the US.
My wife and I have hiked around several peaks: twice around Mt. Hood (4 days each) and Mt. Rainier (15 days).
Now as seniors we're a bit more relaxed about such adventures, but still enjoy the outdoors.
