Adventurous soon to be 40 year old from Eugene, Oregon. I enjoy exploring as much of Oregon as I can. Whether it be while out backpacking, snowshoeing, mountain biking, camping, snowboarding, day hiking, nature photography, or just relaxing at the hot springs. I love seeing new places and sharing my knowledge of the outdoors with others.
Some of my favorite places I have been include Green Lakes, in the Three Sisters Wilderness of Oregon. I tend to backpack in with a group of friends from the outdoor group I founded. It's a beautiful basin situated between South Sister and Broken Top, with views from the ridges nearby of Middle and North Sister, as well as Mount Bachelor. I enjoy setting up camp and then going exploring over the ridge to Golden Lake and Park Meadow. Another beautiful place that I enjoy is Opal Creek, in the Opal Creek Wilderness of Oregon. With it's amazing crystal clear water and cascading waterfalls all around, it's a great place to cool off on a hot summer's day. There is a lot of history there, with resorted cabins dating back to the 1920's as well as old mining and logging artifacts in the small community of Jawbone Flats. You can also find a natural rock waterslide a few miles in to enjoy. I've been down it many times over the years. I also love exploring the Rosary Lakes and Maiden Peak area along the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon. It's just a short hike into the first lower lake, which offers a wonderful and refreshing spot to swim in the summer, as well as to snowshoe to during the winter. The area has four larger lakes, and also a backcountry shelter just off the trail to enjoy. The Maiden Peak Shelter is a two story fully enclosed shelter that sleeps about 15 to 20 people, that includes a wood stove. One of my favorite places to head to in the summer and winter. Maiden Peak's nearby summit stands at 7,818' with views stretching in all directions. All wonderful places to enjoy.
I've backpacked sections of the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon, snowshoed the entire 32 mile rim of Crater Lake National Park in 4 days, ran as a four person team for the 132 mile edition of the Cascade Lakes Relay in 2015, and have lead over 350 trips with my outdoor group I founded four years ago.
