I have come into outdoor adventuring later life. I had always loved the outdoors, however, growing up in a family of six and living in poverty I did not have the opportunity to travel. Lucky for me there were plenty of local lakes and streams to explore near my home. As an adult I have become more heavily involved in the outdoors. I currently backcountry canoe camp, climb, hike, and have recently delved into a bit of mountaineering. Last summer I was able to take my 70 year old mother on her 3rd back country canoe camping trip which was a gift. I have also been fortunate to be able to travel throughout the US and Canada exploring the great outdoors via national and provincial parks and protected wild areas with my two children and husband. Occupation wise, I am currently a middle school science teacher which affords me time off in the summer to explore. I am also currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Natural Science and Environmental Education.
