This is a nice spot for wading, swimming, fishing, paddling, boating, picnicking, camping, or whatever draws you to the cool water of Apache Lake. This camping and day use area is down a turn off from the Apache Trail Scenic Byway about 6 miles west of Roosevelt Lake. It is adjacent to Burnt Corral Campground, but it is smaller, less developed, and does not have designated campsites or any amenities other than one toilet building. Dispersed camping is allowed right at the water's edge. There is an unpaved boat ramp, calm cove, pebbly beach, and plenty of shade trees.
Upper Burnt Corral is a great option for self-reliant campers who seek a little extra seclusion. You are unlikely to have it all to yourself, so please be respectful of other users by not taking up too much space, minimizing noise, and always cleaning up after your camp.
