Campground Description

Campground Description

Green Point Campground is a fantastic campground about 20 kilometers south of Tofino between Long Beach and Combers Beach. The campground offers 94 vehicle sites and one group site, as well as 20 walk-in sites, several of which are equipped with camping gear for an extra fee. The campground is nicely built but not over-developed, the roadways are paved but the sites are gravel, the newly built washroom facilities are nice and clean, and the majority of sites are spaced apart nicely in the dense coastal rainforest so as to provide adequate privacy from the neighbors.

While there are a handful of other nice campgrounds around the Tofino-Uclulet area, Green Point is the only one located within the Long Beach Unit of Pacific Rim National Park, and it has long been one of the most highly sought after campgrounds on Vancouver Island. While it’s not uncommon for campgrounds to fill up these days, Green Point Campground reservations often fill up within hours of becoming available online. One experienced camper expressed that even back in the 1980s, when campsite reservations were almost non-existent, this campground would usually be fully reserved months in advance.

It’s not surprising that Green Point is such a popular spot given its prime location right in the center of western Canada’s most famous beach. The campground is connected to Long Beach via a short trail to the north and to Combers Beach via another trail to the south. Long Beach and Combers beach are connected to each other by a boardwalk trail through a tunnel of krumholz trees, which seem to lean away from the beach because their growth has been stunted by the harsh salty/sandy Pacific wind. Whether you want to surf, swim, explore, or just relax on the beach, everything is right outside your tent or RV at Green Point.

Note that there will be free entry to all Canadian National Parks for the entirety of 2017 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.
