Over the past four years, Expresso has been transformed from a sketchy, slippery, washed-out old trail into one of the premier trails on the North Shore. The famous Todd "Digger" Fiander and crews from North Shore Mountain Bike Association and Mountain Equipment Co-op have put in countless hours hauling special dirt from deposits around the mountain to lay down a golden trail that twists and turns through the forest with incredible flow.

Climb from the trailhead at the parking area up the fire road to the clearly marked Expresso Trailhead between the fifth and sixth switchback. The trail used to be rated a hard black diamond, but with the introduction of a new entrance and some amazing attention to detail in terrain use and irrigation, the trail has been downgraded to a blue run with a couple of tricky sections. A smooth track with whoops, bumps, and burms keeps intermediate and advanced riders smiling and coming back for more.

Expresso ends at the Baden Powell Trail. Named for Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement in North America, this was originally a hiking trail crossing all of the North Shore mountains. The nearly 3-kilometer section from Expresso back to the trailhead used to be quite steep and lacked biking flow, but trail builders have recently created new climbing routes and smoothed out other sections making the trail more enjoyable for bikers and hikers to share.
