Alouette Lake in Golden Ears Provincial Park has a number of access points, including the larger southern beach, and a few campgrounds along the western shore. If you're up for a short hike and desire a bit more solitude, consider North Beach. A pleasant walk on North Beach Trail along Gold Creek leads to the open area at North Beach. A small sand bar extends into the lake, ensuring that there's plenty of room for everyone to have a lakeside seat. Views both north and south across the long lake are breathtaking. The water is gentle and great for wading or a swim. Do note that motorized boats are allowed in Alouette Lake, so exercise caution as there is no designated swimming area at North Beach. There are also restrooms at the end of the trail, so plan to bring a picnic and stay for a while. Fishing is allowed with an appropriate license.
