Located at the end of the road near Tomales Point, McClures Beach is the last accessible beach along the northern stretch of the Point Reyes National Seashore. Hidden from the road, McClures Beach is situated in a scenic cove between two rocky headlands. The beach is accessible via a short trail that leads down a coastal scrub-lined canyon.

A beautiful fine grained stretch of sand that is backed by colorful and featured sandstone bluffs, McClures Beach is exposed to all the raw power the north Pacific can summon. Take care when exploring the rocky headlands to the north and south, as rising tides have been known to strand unwary visitors. The south has good tide pooling at low tide, though exploring around the headland to the south should only be done on outgoing or low tide.

Parking is located at the end of Pierce Point Road, just past the Tomales Point Trailhead parking. Keep an eye for the resident herd of tule elk that inhabit the area; they’re often spotted grazing around the McClure’s Beach Trailhead.
