Big Pine Flat is located some distance from Big Bear northward along a winding dirt road. This is a good choice if your family wants some seclusion from the lakeshore area. The campground is popular with OHV users because of the off-roading areas nearby, so noise and dust can be factors.

During weekdays and less busy times of year, however, this campground is a great bet for finding solitude among the pines. Amenities include ample parking, picnic tables, fire rings, drinking water vault toilets, and trash cans. Reservations are not available at Big Pine Flat; it is first-come, first-served only.

Note: Big Pine Flat Family Campground is typically open from the end of April through the end of October. Call the Big Bear Discovery Center at 909.382.2790 for details. A four-wheel drive high clearance vehicle is not required, but it is recommended.
