If you are ever in the Mount Shasta/Trinity Alps area of Northern California and need a place to camp, Friday’s will surely make you feel at home. Although Bob and Maylon Friday do cater to small RVs, this is a simple and quaint campground with four tent campsites that are more than satisfactory. The property is set in the middle of the Squaw Creek Valley at the base of 14,161-foot Mount Shasta, and it provides spectacular views of the peak on a cloudless day. Unfortunately, due to the weather our photos don’t do the setting justice. If you are starting to feel a bit cramped in your tent and wouldn’t mind some domestic pleasures, ask Maylon to show you the one-bedroom Pond House or their three bedroom Cabin. Both are charming.
If you are in the McCloud area, be sure to hike on the McCloud River Three Falls Trail, or from Friday’s head an easy 3.3 miles south for a day hike on the Squaw Valley Creek Trail, accessed from the Cabin Creek Campsites.
