Campground Description

Campground Description

Team

Just a short distance from Altadena in the foothills of the San Gabriels lays an unassuming first-come, first-served trail camp that is perfect for those last minute impulses to sleep outdoors. You may be the only camper on most weekdays, but you won't be alone. Also known as Millard Trail Camp, the campground sits along the Millard Falls Trail. Daytime will bring plenty of foot traffic from hikers heading to the falls. There's also a good possibility you may be sharing the space with a black bear – the campground does occasionally close due to their presence. That aside, Millard Trail Camp is a charming little campground with six walk-in sites situated along the seasonal Millard Canyon Creek. Oak trees provide plenty of cover and shade. Potable water is not available, but water from the stream can be filtered if it is flowing. The campground has no fee, but you will need a California Adventure Pass to park in the nearby parking lot. Its proximity to L.A. makes this little campground a great option for campers of all levels who want a quick getaway.

Call 818-899-1900 for current (bear-related) closure information.
