The Pleasant Valley Campground is a very popular spot for trout fisherman and other outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the Owens River, Pleasant Valley Reservoir, and the nearby Happy Boulders Climbing Area. The river here is fed from upstream by the Pleasant Valley Reservoir, which is dammed for hydroelectric power. There are various fishing rules and guidelines here depending on which part of the river you are in and whether you are fishing from the campground property or adjacent properties.

The shaded campsites along the river make for a nice place to cool down during summer months, especially after bouldering at Happy Boulders or exploring the nearby Volcanic Tablelands BLM area during hot summer months. The Tablelands is a vast volcanic landscape that was formed over 700,000 years ago. There are many petroglyphs in the area that reflect a long history of nomadic populations in this land. Please avoid touching or disturbing them or any archaeological site. Also, please do your part to keep the river clean. Enjoy!
