Nestled amid stands of eucalyptus, San Clemente State Beach Campground is a well-maintained, comfortable campground on the bluffs of San Clemente overlooking San Clemente State Beach. Boasting some of the most lavish of amenities, the campground offers beautiful views, hot showers, and proximity to any camp necessity that might arise during a visit. A large campground, it accommodates RVs of 30 feet and has hookups for water, electrical, and sewer.

San Clemente State Beach Campground has a lot to offer. Positioned on sandstone bluffs in the southwestern foothills of the Santa Anas, spectacular vistas overlook San Clemente Pier, Capistrano Bight, and Dana Point to the north, and Catalina Island and San Clemente Island to the west. It is a ten-minute walk to the biggest swimming hole in the world, the Pacific Ocean. The best surfing in Southern California is on the other side of San Clemente Point at Lower Trestles. Surfline fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving, and whale watching (during the appropriate seasons) are all possibilities where surfers are in less abundance. Accessible at the northern end of the beach, the San Clemente Beach Trail extends from Calafia Beach to North Beach.

Given its location and with so much to do nearby, San Clemente State Beach is one of the busiest state beaches in California. Campers should be prepared for crowds. During peak season, which runs from March 1 to October 31, reservations are strongly encouraged, and an attempt should be made to book your campsite when they become available six months in advance. Being within San Clemente city limits and within striking distance of two major metropolitan areas, and offering such comforts as it does, the San Clemente State Beach Campground will attract a more casual camper. With its limited privacy, visitors here will more often than not have to contend with the noise of families and groups. Campers should also be wary of campground wildlife, which has grown accustomed to busying itself with camp refuse. Make sure to follow all posted recommendations on garbage disposal when visiting the campground.
