Sunset campground is the least attractive campground in Death Valley National Park, but it is also one of the least expensive. Essentially a large gravel parking lot, 270 individual sites are marked off with white chalk by row and number. For this reason, this campground is best suited to RV or trailers, though tents can be pitched here as well. While there are no hookups at Sunset Campground, there is a dump station, and multiple restrooms and potable water stations are sporadically set up throughout the campground for your convenience.
Sunset Campground is just over a mile away from the Furnace Creek Visitor Center and other amenities in the area. Many popular Death Valley adventures like Badwater Basin, Artists Drive, Golden Canyon, and The Devil’s Golf Course are a short drive from here as well. Like many Death Valley National Park campsites, no reservations are available and a credit card is the only accepted form of payment. Sunset is open from October 15 to May 1.
