The Kidd Lake and Wiesel trails combine to loop around Kidd Lake at Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort's western trail network.
Beginning from the Wilderness Hut that lies at the end of the Yuba and Palisade trails, this trail traverses intermediate level slopes as it rounds Kidd Lake, at one point heading up a ridge that overlooks the Interstate 80 valley a quiet distance below.
The Kidd Lake Trail comes to an end at a fork with several short trails that all quickly make their way to the Devil's Outlook Hut, named for its views of imposing Devil's Peak (7,704 ft) just beyond Cascade Lakes.
It is possible to take the short intermediate Bird's Nest Trail to a vista point atop Cascade Lakes, or the longer expert Wagon Train Trail that climbs to the Horseshoe Hut on Devil's Peak's western slope.
From the Devil's Outlook Hut, the Wiesel Trail heads west over fun rolling terrain along the southern bank of Kidd Lake, eventually heading back to the Wilderness Cafe, or intersecting with other trails that meet up with the Stagecoach Trail that leads back in the direction the denser network of trails approaching the Summit Lodge.
