Glacier Lodge sits along Big Pine Creek at 8,000 feet and provides access to some of the most scenic and best hiking, fishing, and climbing in California. Kathy has been the owner and operator of the Glacier Lodge since 1998. In 1999, an electrical fire burned the main lodge to the ground, though nine cabins were spared and are still used today. One of the cabins is now a front desk, a store, and a kitchen where Kathy will cook one tasty breakfast for you. She looks forward to chatting with her guests, and she has a lot of good hiking and fishing knowledge of the surrounding mountains in the John Muir Wilderness. The lodge has all the simple amenities of a quality high mountain cabin resort, and it is a perfect place to rest before or after a trek into the High Sierra.

The Big Pine Creek North Fork Trail starts nearby, and it takes you into the High Eastern Sierra Nevada to the crest of the Great Western Divide. Here you'll find Mount Sill at 14,153 feet, host to the Palisades Glacier, the southernmost glacier in the United States. There is also the epic Temple Crag along this trail, which houses some of the tallest rock climbs in the entire Sierra Nevada Range. Closer to Glacier Lodge, you can enjoy fly fishing along Big Pine Creek, relaxing in the shade of the pine forest, or take a day hike to First Falls. There is a small trout pond to practice your cast or teach the kids to fish. There are tent camping sites, and day use parking is allowed with a small fee. Glacier Lodge is a peaceful, quiet place that will become one of your favorites anywhere.
