Madrona Day Use Area is a small site on the Smith River. Water will remain cold into late summer, but it is impossibly clear and beautiful. It makes for a great spot to cool off when the weather heats up, and it is also an excellent shallow fishing location. The site may not be able to compete with nearby deeper swimming locations, but it still is a cozy spot  to avoid crowds, fish and wade into the water. There is enough parking for a handful of cars, but it doesn't often see that many visitors at any given time. Set up a hammock between the trees and nap away the afternoon. There are three established free camping sites next to the parking area.

Nearby attractions on the river include Sandy Beach, Panther Flat and Patrick's Creek within just a few miles.
