Heart O' the Hills is the closest campground to Hurricane Ridge, and as such, it is a great choice for a night or two in this popular section of Olympic National Park. Sites here are large and well distributed, so while the forest understory is less present in this campground than in others in the park, privacy and space are very well preserved. Besides, the abundance of new-growth trees interspersed with the older specimens effectively screens open areas.

Heart O' the Hills has 105 sites, all of which are first-come, first-served. Because this is the only campground to service the Hurricane Ridge Road and it is so close to Port Angeles, spaces do fill up in peak seasons, especially on the weekends. Be sure to arrive early for the best site selection. Sites have their own picnic tables and fire rings, and the campground has centrally located restrooms, potable water, an amphitheater, and firewood for sale.

A small trail system winds around the campground for casual strolls, but most visitors come for hikes on Hurricane Ridge. The Hurricane Hill Trail is a great choice for a shorter walk with an incredible reward, and the walk out to Klahhane Ridge from the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center offers magnificent views throughout and significantly fewer crowds.

Note: Heart O' the Hills Campground is open year round.
