Tucked away at the west end of Lake Crescent, Fairholme Campground is a fairly large campground ideally situated near the water and with direct access to Fairholme Beach. While none of the 88 sites have hookups, this campground gets plenty of RV traffic (maximum recommended length is 21 feet). Tent camping has its advantages here as well, however, as many of the best sites are walk-in only. There is no reservation system here, so all sites are first-come, first-served. All sites enjoy shade from Douglas firs, western redcedars and the red alder covering the shoreline, which is an important feature on the long sunny days at the lake's western shore, and the lush understory of ferns helps to keep the dust down.
Fairholme Campground has basic amenities including potable water, picnic tables and fire pits at each site, and restrooms; the principle amenity here is its location near to the boat launch, swimming area, and general store affiliated with the beach. You can also rent boats for a little exploration on the lake itself. For a little exercise, the campground is just steps away from the Spruce Railroad/Olympic Discovery Trail that runs along the north shore of the lake, and several more trails are just a short drive away. If the weather turns inclement and you need a break, Fairholme is only a 30 minute drive from Sol Duc Hot Springs, where you can warm your core with a long soak.
