Located just south of the Yaquina Bay Jetty in Newport, South Beach State Park is an exceptional destination for campers.  In addition to offering an excellent campground, the park offers fishing off of the jetty, crabbing in Yaquina Bay, beach-combing, and kayak tours at nearby Beaver Creek State Natural Area July 4th through Labor Day (for reservations call 541.687.6590). The full service campground includes 227 sites with electrical and water hook-ups, 60 spacious tent sites, three group sites, a hiker and biker camp, and 27 yurts (more than any other Oregon state park).

Be sure to visit Oregon’s two premier marine education institutions, the Mark O. Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.  These are both just outside the park and are great stops for children.
