Campground Description

Campground Description

Team

Located on the northern shore of Lake Granby on the western side of Rocky Mountain National Park, Cutthroat Bay Group Campground is significant because it is the only campground to provide sites for large groups (up to 30 people per site). The campground is limited to just to sites however. Each site provides a large picnic shelter (seating for up to 30), vault toilet, food storage vaults, stand-up barbecue grills, and gravel tent pads. Note that there is no potable water on-site.

The state's third largest body of water, Lake Granby was created when the upper Colorado River was harnessed by the Granby Dam in 1950, a part of the Bureau of Reclamation's Colorado-Big Thompson Project. Siting at an elevation of 8,280 feet, the reservoir is stocked annually with trout and kokanee salmon.

Other campgrounds on the reservoir include:

Cutthroat Group Campground is managed by American Land and Leisure, via the Stillwater Campground. Call the Stillwater office at 970.887.0056 for more information.
