Among the several campgrounds along the Taylor River near Gunnison, Colorado, the North Bank Campground is probably the least attractive, but it does have its good points. It does offer great river access for fishing, and it is fun to hear the rafters and kayakers whooping as they barrel down the river. The river is between the campground and the road, so road noise is negligible. Like all of the Taylor Canyon campgrounds, it makes a great base camp for rock climbing, hiking, fishing, paddling and mountain biking. In fact, the very popular Doctor Park Trail (hiking bikes and horses) starts right in the campground.
The campground has one small loop and a main road along the river. The typical vault toilets and hand pumps for water are here, and the sites are reasonably spaced, with many having a bit of a view of the water.
