For those seeking absolute solitude and a back to basic retreat, Phoenix Ridge Yurt provides an excellent jump off point. The yurt consists of a main living area with accommodations to sleep up to eight people. A full sized bed, wood burning stove, and basic kitchen fill the space. There is solar power energy for a few lights, but no running water. A separate yurt connected to the main yurt contains a pit toilet and shower stall. A large deck is accessible via french doors.

The views from the yurt face east toward the 13,000-foot La Garita Mountains. Several trails, ATV roads, and wildlife viewing opportunities are nearby and easily accessible in the summer. In the winter you'll have world-class backcountry skiing right from the yurt. Ski down 1,000 feet of vertical to the forest road below and skin back up via the road. Navigation skills are required to find this yurt in the winter, as the forest roads are not plowed.

Visitors should be sure to bring plenty of water out of snow season. If you visit in the winter, there is plenty of propane to melt snow for your water source. Also, detailed instructions for the bear fence, solar power, pit toilets, and directions are all available from Phoenix Ridge Yurts once you book.
