Sunset Rock is an amazing place to, as the name suggests, watch a sunset. With sweeping views of the valley and Chattanooga off in the distance, this is a pristine summer and fall location for spending the end of a day. A number of trails connect this vantage point to the forest below.

The trail from the parking area to the overlook is short: approximately 0.1 mile and slightly downhill (uphill on the return). Beyond Sunset Rock, the Bluff Trail wraps around below and meanders along the bottom edge of the bluffs of Lookout Mountain. Heading northeast passes several less-popular spots among the rocks to take in the sunset.

Sunset Rock is a popular place, and it's not surprising why. However, parking fills up fast, and the local police patrol regularly to issue parking tickets. The prime viewing points get crowded quickly, but there are numerous places to watch the sunset show.
