Situated on the north shore of Kauai, Lumaha’i Beach offers exceptional views as well as exceptional displays of nature. From this beach you look out over a curvy shoreline and jagged rock formations to the Pacific with a backdrop of steep vocanic rock cliffs. In addition, large waves are known to hit this area, especially in the winter. Combined with the sloped, sandy beaches and ocean currents, Lumaha’i is often considered unsafe for swimmers. While conditions are not always optimal for your average swimmer, many people, especially locals, still swim, bodyboard, and surf at this location.

When it comes to amenities, you can consider this a remote destination. There are no facilities, parking is only in the dirt, and there are no facilities or lifeguards at the beach. While this means you’ll need to pack all of your own things, it also means that you’ll be at a mostly secluded beach where you can relax and enjoy the panoramic view. Also, with regard to the view, it was made famous when a movie scene from South Pacific was filmed at this destination.
