Makaha Beach Park is a popular beach located on the western, leeward coast of Oahu. Here you can find open expanses of soft sand beach, picnic tables for gatherings, and decent waves for surfing.

There is a lifeguard station, public restrooms, and freshwater rinse showers available for use.

You may see local vendors selling a variety of things, from smoked fish and fruit smoothies to shave ice. Early in the morning you may be able to see pods of dolphins or whales swimming offshore, so keep an eye on the horizon. If you plan on staying into the late afternoon, check out the views of the sunset, which can be quite gorgeous.

The beach is a popular place to hang out, and the atmosphere is less serene on busy days. The beach can be busy on weekends and during the summer months, so arrive early to ensure parking.

Dangerous swell and currents are possible, especially during winter months. Contact lifeguards for more information. Check wave conditions before entering the water.
