Situated just a short drive south from Sandpoint, Round Lake State Park Campground has 51 sites near the small lake. The campground has a visitor center, showers, an amphitheater, and 16 of the sites can accommodate RVs up to 25 feet with hookups for water and electricity provided. The other campgrounds are well spaced and setup for car camping with picnic tables, fire pits and ample sources of potable water throughout the campground.

A short walk leads campers down to Round Lake, a small lake stocked with fish that is great for swimming in the summer. A dock leads out into the lake and offers a place for swimmers to jump from or to launch boats (only electric motor boats are permitted). The campground offers canoe and stand-up paddleboard rentals for an hourly, half-day, or daily fee.

Some of the campsites are situated near a road that runs along the campground that has a surprising amount of traffic and slightly diminishes from what is otherwise a tranquil, natural setting. Otherwise the area is well managed, has lots of amenities, and for families looking for a place to escape the summer heat, offers a perfect getaway to play in the still waters of Round Lake.
