Grand Isle State Park sits on a barrier island in southeastern Louisiana. Its location at the terminus of highway LA-1 gives the community of Grand Isle an edge-of-the-world feeling despite it being close enough to New Orleans to be a great day trip or weekend destination.

Grand Isle State Park Campground is an RV-friendly campground with 49 pull-through sites, each with water, electricity, a picnic table and a fire pit. There is additional tent camping located in several sites on the beach. While making efficient use of the space, unfortunately, there is not much space or privacy between neighboring campsites.

The campground has heated bathroom buildings with free showers located at either end of the camping area, and there are dishwashing sinks and coin laundry facilities available as well. There are several trails from the campground directly to the beach. The campground also has a dump station. While most of the park features, including pier, observation deck, and fishing pond, are slightly spread out over the long narrow landscape, most are within several minutes walking distance from the campground.

State park gates are locked nightly, meaning all campers must be inside the park for the night before and during campground quiet hours. Pets must be leashed at all times and are not permitted on the beach. Campsite prices range from about $18 per night for tent camping on the beach to $33 per night for premium RV sites on weekend nights in the high season. Weeknight and off-season rates may be slightly less. More information can be found by calling the park at 985.787.2559 or by visiting their website here
