The Blue Goose Trail is a 1-mile out-and-back trail through the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge from a parking area on Highway-27 to the West Cove of Calcasieu Lake.
The asphalt path parallels Shell Canal as it winds between brush that provides habitat for songbirds before eventually coming to a turnaround point with views of Calcasieu Lake.
The trail is flat and ADA accessible. The parking lot and trailhead area has an observation deck with a mounted telescope for viewing the wildlife refuge, along with a small shade pavilion and informational kiosks.
The trail is open from sunrise until sunset. There is no cost to use the trail. There are no amenities located at the trail.
