Pigeon Creek State Park Ski + Snowshoeing

Pigeon Creek State Park is 282 acres of West Michigan Winter Paradise. While the park is open year round with numerous summer activities, the park truly comes alive when the temperature drops and the lake effect snow from Lake Michigan blankets the park in feet of powder. This family-friendly park draws visitors out of winter hibernation with activities for all ages. Pigeon Creek offers just over 10 miles of cross-country skiing trails, five of which are dual groomed for Nordic and skate skiing. A well-labeled information board at the parking lot allows skiers to pick a route to match their experience and energy level. Most trails are flat, groomed, and great for beginners. All trail intersections have an easy to read map to prevent getting lost. Heading further out into the woods allows more advanced skiers to roll up and down the typically gentle hills through the red pine forests. The 3-mile main loop, which is groomed for both Nordic and skate skiing, is lit for night skiing until 10 p.m. during prime snow conditions. The outer trails can be skied safely at night with a proper headlight. Crossing Stanton Road to the "Northside" trail is an often missed great option to get away from the crowds within the main trail system.

The park also offers a 1-mile snowshoe trail and sledding hill. The lodge offers rental equipment for sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at reasonable prices. When open, the lodge also serves basic foods, snacks, and warm drinks. Dogs are not allowed when the cross-country ski trails are open to protect the grooming. The lodge offers indoor restrooms and water. A pit toilet is available near the parking lot.
