Terraces Group Campground and Picnic Area is easily the most scenic camping option in Lamoille Canyon, and it is the group alternative to Thomas Canyon Campground, which does not have a group site.

Located up a short hill from Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway, each site requires a short walk from the central parking area, some down narrow paths surrounded by trees in level patches cascading down the steep canyon wall - hence the name Terraces. Each site has a picnic table and a grill along with a small level area large enough for a tent. The narrow paths between thick aspen groves give each site a sense of seclusion.

At an elevation of about 8,000 feet, Terraces remains cool and is the nearest campground to the Ruby Crest Trailhead, along with other hikes into the Ruby Mountains such as the Island Lake and Lamoille Lake trails.

The campground includes water and a central bathroom, and there is a group grill in addition to those provided at each site. Advance reservations are required. Terraces is open seasonally each year, so be sure to check the open dates in advance. On days when the group campground isn't reserved, Terraces is open as a day use picnic area that is accessible to all visitors.
