Twenty Mile Beach is one of three adjacent campgrounds on the west shores of Walker Lake. The dispersed campground is operated by the Bureau of Land Management and offers next to nothing in the way of amenities. Only a central dumpster and a vault toilet are present among the sandy gravel roads - there are no fire rings, benches, shade, running water, or any other comforts of any kind.
Upon entering the camping area, cars can proceed down defined gravel roads that begin to get softer the further they extend from the main entryroad. Campers have become stuck in the softer sand, so if you are in doubt, it may be best to stick to the main gravel road.
The area is wide enough to handle medium-sized RV's with turnaround clearance, and though Walker Lake spreads out scenically just below the campground, the receding lake levels mean that there is no vehicle access to the water's edge.
Nightly cost is $4, or $22 weekly, which must be paid at the pay station at Sportsmen's Beach Day Use Area and Campground located 4.3 miles south on Highway 95. The day use area at Sportsman's Beach also offer picnic benches and a boat launch.
The nearest groceries and gas facilities are located 20 miles south in Hawthorne.
