The Bay of Fundy is designated as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of North America, and for good reason. The name “Fundy,” from the French word, “fendu,” means split. It’s the bay’s shape that helps make the Bay of Fundy so special by creating the world’s highest tides. It’s an amazing sight to see, and just one of many outdoor adventures at Fundy National Park.

The park protects two diverse environmental systems. Along the bay is the marine coastal region. Take Point Wolfe Beach Trail to access the rocky beach and watch the extraordinary tidal changes.

From the beach, the landscape rises quickly to the Caledonia Highlands plateau where the other environmental system is located, the Maritime Acadian Forest. This forest is only found in the Maritimes, southern Quebec and New England states.

Among the outdoor adventures at Fundy National Park, the park is a destination for bird watching, with more than 260 different types of birds. There is plenty of hiking with over 62 miles of trails from 0.3 miles to 31 miles in length. Take the Dickson Falls Trail for a scenic wonderland of waterfalls, ferns and mosses. Enjoy a paddle or a swim in peaceful Bennett Lake, go mountain biking, or check out the nine-hole par 70 golf course designed by renowned architect Stanley Thompson. Even when the sun sets, there’s still one more outdoor adventure. The park is a Dark Sky Preserve. Look at the night sky and be wowed.
