Located at the inlet of Detroit Lake on the reservoir’s far eastern end, Santiam Flats Campground offers one thing none of the lake’s other campgrounds offer… campsites with sun exposure.  If you are one of the many Oregonians lacking vitamin D, then Santiam Flats Campground is the overnight spot for you.  All of the other campgrounds lining Detroit Lake’s shore are tucked away under thick groves of Douglas fir and western red cedar.  Unfortunately, like Detroit Lake State Park, Santiam Flats is located within earshot of Highway 22.

The campground features 31 tent/car campsites alongside the North Santiam River, and alder and willow trees produce an ideal mix of dappled sunshine.  Easy access to both the reservoir and river makes Santiam Flats popular with anglers.  Further, vault toilets and potable water can easily be accessed from all of the campsites.

Just want to note that Santiam Flats does accept reservations. Most of the waterfront spots are first come, first served (22 is reservable).
