Like many of the campgrounds owned and operated by Hoodoo Recreation Services in the area, the amenities offered at Hosmer Lake's South Campground are pretty rustic, particularly given the absence of potable water or the ability to make reservations.  What this campground does offer, however, is access to one of Oregon's most beautiful, unique lakes and numerous campsites that overlook the water and the bullrush marsh that forms the nearly invisible shoreline.

Attention! In recent years the overwhelming popularity of the lake amongst paddlers has begun to take a toll on the lake's once abundant wildlife.  Spotting wildlife such as river otter is now rare, and conversations with campground hosts in the summer of 2012 revealed that numerous species of birds that once frequented the marshy lake hadn't been recorded in over four years.  Please, when visiting this pristine lake, be sure to respect the native wildlife by keeping your distance and remaining quiet.

Note: Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway is only open during the summer months, typically from late June to early November, but it varies based on snow pack.  See ODOT for highway opening and closure updates.
