Situated in Loon Lake Recreation Site is a substantially large campground on the northern shore of Loon Lake. Isolated in the rugged coast range, Loon Lake Recreation Site Campground is surprisingly unique. There is a variety of layouts and size options available to reserve and a significant amount of sites to recommended. Each site is surrounded by thick old-growth Douglas fir, western hemlock, and western redcedar trees and lush green foliage.

A short access road from the entrance toll booth leads up a hill where most campsites are found. At the top of this hill is a grassy tent meadow where five walk-in sites are available, each with a single parking space. Across the road is the substantially sized playground. Some sites are quite close in proximity, while others are isolated and private among the surrounding tall trees. Potable water always seems to be within a short walking distance, and flush toilets are not far. The highlight, however, will be Loon Lake with its sandy beach and swimming area just down the hill from the campground.

Some campsites may be closed for maintenance, and showers may not be available due to water shortage.

If staying at Loon Lake, but looking to go more up-scale with your accommodations, consider the Loon Lake Lodge + RV Resort that not only provides campsites, but also full hook-up RV sites, yurts, cabins, inn-style rooms, and their stand alone Waterfront House
