Not to be confused with Riverside Campground on the Clackamas River, this Riverside Campground sits along the banks of the North Fork of the Santiam River 14 miles upstream of Detroit, and it is the furthest established campground en route to Oregon's Santiam Pass from Salem. Well positioned on the banks of the river, the campground makes up for its modest amenities with pleasant scenery and relative peace and quiet, as it generally does not receive the crowds that head to nearby Detroit Lake.
The campground also lies just 2 miles upstream from the turnoff for popular Pamelia Lake + Grizzly Peak, 2.2 miles downstream from the Marion Forks Hatchery + Campground, and 5 miles downstream from the massive old-growth stands towering above Tall Tree Campsites, located just off of Straight Creek Road (NF-11).
Note: Riverside Campground is open from early May through late September. Contact American Land and Leisure at 1.800.342.2267 for specific dates.
