With some of Oregon's best views down the Columbia River Gorge, Munra Point offers ample reward for the steep and sometimes difficult climb required to access this unique point. You'll have several options for your ascent; while the direct route includes more scrambling, there are a variety of side trails that offer more moderate inclines through a series of switchbacks. All of the trails converge at the top of Munra Point. Naturally, the descent over unstable terrain can also be a trick, but nothing a little caution won't conquer.

The views from the top are spectacular. Ives and Pierce islands are downstream to the west, and Robbins, Bradford, and Cascade islands are upstream to the east. Beacon Rock State Park and Pierce National Wildlife Refuge are just downstream on the Washington side, and you'll also see Hamilton Mountain just north of that. Table Mountain lies almost directly north. On a clear day, you'll also have great views of Mount Adams and Mount St. Helens.

Munra Point is best accessed by parking at Wahclella Falls Trailhead near Bonneville Dam and hiking Gorge Trail #400 west, along the south side of the highway for approximately 1.5 miles. The inconspicous trail for Munra Point branches off to the south a couple hundred yards before reaching Moffet Creek, marked by a small "unmaintained trail" sign on a tree a short way up the trail.

Trail isn't in great condition and there are some challenging climbing sections but the views at the top are definitely worth it! One of the nicest 360 degree views in the Gorge. Be prepared to use all four limbs. "Scramble" is a bit of an understatement as there are a couple sections that require full on climbing and can be quite difficult. However, if you make it up you won't be disappointed.

BEAUTIFUL views. Definitely a "scramble"! Took us 1'45" up and 1'15" down at a good pace. Loved it, just be prepared for some crawling!
